Poetry in the Brew is happy to welcome feature Kana Kavon and guest host Tiana Clark to the Portland Brew East stage this November.
November Featured Poet Kana Kavon
For the past 8 years, Kana Kavon has called Nashville home. Over this span of time, she has also traveled to and written about several Latin American countries. Her travel writings and poetry have appeared in newspapers, blogs, and her self-published chapbook, Born in Brazil. She is a founding member of the Lucille Clifton Collective and has performed and read her poetry in venues throughout Nashville. She is a trilingual lover of culture and arts, which is reflected in her digital magazine, One.Drop. Kana received B.A.s in English and Spanish from Fisk University and a M.A. in English from Tennessee State University. She currently serves as Grants Coordinator Program Specialist with Metro Nashville Arts Commission.
November Guest Host Tiana Clark
Tiana Clark has written poetry since childhood, but it was in Nashville’s Hume-Fogg Academic High School where her craft was honed under the tutelage of creative writing teacher Bill Brown. She continued to be mentored under Brown for a semester at Middle Tennessee State University’s Writer’s Loft program. Clark’s poems have appeared in Sisterhood, Southern Voices: Volume 8, The Southwestern Review, and All The Livelong Day: Motif Anthologies, Volume 3.
October 2013 Poetry in the Brew Revisited
October’s Poetry in the Brew was a happy return to poetry days past as Purple Poet Curtis Rose returned to Nashville armed with cowbell and powerful words for an energetic and memorable classic Purple Poet set.
Patricia Albrecht did a wonderful job as our October guest host, filling the loft at Portland Brew East with her warm and welcoming spirit.
Thank you to both and all the poets and supporters for a great night!
