Another exciting Poetry in the Brew featuring two great local poets is slated for February.

January Feature Alita-Brielle Terry

Alita-Brielle Terry is a spirited poet and actress. Her reverence for history, storytelling, music and dance is evident in her writings as well as the vocal presentation of her work. Her artistic journey has been greatly influenced by her faith, ancestral voices, theater and the burgeoning spoken word community. Alita-Brielle has presented her work at venues throughout the southeast including, Book-In-A Day (2008), Decatur Book Festival (2008) and (2009), Southern Fried Poetry Slam (2010), the Tennessee Women’s Theater Project-Women’s Work (2011). She is currently working on a poetic collaboration with poet/actress Kana Gaines entitled, Tamarind Jam: Vignettes of the Black Feminine Dynamic. Alita is thankful for the unending support of her spiritual and artistic family who continue to nurture the development of her craft.

January Guest Host Leslie LaChance

Leslie LaChance is editor of Mixitini Matrix: A Journal of Creative Collaboration. Her collection of poems How She Got That Way was published last fall in the Toadlily Press Chapbook quartet Mend & Hone. Two of her poems have received Pushcart Prize nominations, and her work has appeared in several literary journals. She’s read here in Nashville at The Southern Festival of Books, Lyrical Brew, Writings on the Wall, DNR Night of Free Speech, and has become a regular at Poetry In the Brew. She’s looking forward to hosting the always adventurous Poetry in the Brew reading this February.
