Poetry in the Brew presents Isolation: An Online Poetry Event, streaming live on Facebook 6-8 PM CDT August 29. Our aim is to raise awareness for the prevalence of mental unrest and suicide in the wake of Covid-19.

Poet Kayla Bruyn has conceived and curated this reading to inspire and unite us in the call for a better tomorrow. We feel as artists it is our duty to shed light on difficult topics and provide inspiration to push through these trying times. We hope we can help equip people to keep pushing for a better tomorrow by pairing art with a toolkit.

Lifelong artist and creative beacon Huxley King, who recently embarked on a path putting her talents to therapeutic use in the mental healthcare field, will emcee our event. She will share some helpful practices we can all employ. Poets will perform from around the world—the US, UK, Australia, and Pakistan—with featured readings by:
Meg Smith
Scott Coe
Finlay Hall
Fizza Abbas
Kenny Rae
Gregory Lannom
Carolyn Connolly
Gregory Slade
Henry L Jones
Donna Whitney
Caroline Burrows
Noel Marie Blackmire
Dane Ince
Ross Donlon
Franchesa Kirkpatrick
Joanna Collins
Christine Hall
Jonah Eller-Isaacs
Kayla Sue Bruyn

We invite you to tune in this Saturday! Regular poetry readings will resume September 5, and all poets who wish to connect are welcome to sign up for our weekly open mic.
