We’re taking a recess from our second Saturday reading at Portland Brew East this month, and hope to see you in February!
Wishing you health and happiness in this new year, and a healthy creative process in periods of rest and outpour.
In the meanwhile, momentous news to look forward to this month: venerable community leader K H A O S releases his first book of poems, Khaotic Verse: Musings, edited by Brew host Christine Hall with cover image by Henry L. Jones.
An activist, educator, veteran, and gifted orator, K H A O S has been involved in many progressive movements centered in Nashville, from civil rights protests to supporting youth development, working with such organizations as Gideon’s Army.
Henry L. Jones also has new work on display at Scarritt Bennett Center through March 29, 2022, with an opening artist reception and talk in the Laskey Gallery on Thursday, January 13, from 4:30 – 6:30 pm. “One Song for Three Journeys” is a series of 30 abstract paintings by Henry L. Jones of images that explore thoughts, feelings, and ideas flowing along three journeys: Journey One: The Pursuit of Wholeness, Journey Two: The Connection of Identity, and Journey Three: The Desire for Global Reaching.
For a look back at our last reading of 2021, you can watch the video of December’s Brew featuring Carolyn Connolly, with Billy H., Brandon Long, Kelsey Mahaffey, Rye, Andrew Dillon, Alexander F., Laurie Todd, Zack Williams, Nina Renee, Rudrapriya Rani, and Omar on the open mic.
