About Poetry in the Brew

Poetry in the Brew is a monthly open mic spoken word event, founded by Nashville poet MAP and organized by Christine Hall. MAP enlisted the support from others in the local poetry community to build a reading for poets, spoken word artists and storytellers. It’s the longest running of any open mic poetry reading currently held in Nashville, celebrating 5 years in 2016.

The reading is located at Portland Brew East, upstairs in the coffeehouse’s loft. A rotating art show provides the backdrop for this intimate space.

On the second Saturday of each month, signup for the open mic is first come first served, starting at 5:30pm. Reading is from 6:00 until 8:30pm.
