December Feature Carolyn Connolly

Carolyn is a poet and teacher living in Nashville, Tennessee, with a degree in English and a double minor in creative writing and history. She’s had work published in 1 Human Journal, Aurora: the Allegory Ridge Poetry Anthology, Sinew: 10 Years of Poetry in the Brew, and the Belmont Literary Journal. When she’s not writing about women’s lives or working with kids, she’s going for long walks in the cold and filling out applications for an MFA in poetry with her fingers and toes crossed.

The video of our November 27th online open mic is available here on our facebook page. The 4th Saturday of this month falls on Christmas, and we wish you a merry one as we go on break from zoom readings. We’re on hiatus from Poetry Popups also, after the wonderful wrap party Amy Hoskins hosted at her place (delightfully dubbed Downbeat Abbey) this weekend. Look for the Gestalt Poetry Open Mic series returning to Downbeat Abbey in January, and Popups springing back March 2022. We’ll miss you till next we meet again!

Writer and poet Henry L. Jones is a member of our Poetry in the Brew family. His art and poetry are in a current exhibit at the Parthenon Museum in Nashville, Tennessee. Kindred Links: Omari Booker and Henry L. Jones opened October 28, 2021, and ends February 13, 2022. The interactive display of art, videos, and conceptual sculpture continues to connect with many museum guests. Here’s the tour video to give you a peek at Kindred Links:

The Sinew editorial team reunited this weekend as Jo Collins and Christine Hall received a personal guided tour of Kindred Links from the artist himself, Henry L. Jones.

Pick up a copy of Sinew: 10 Years on Poetry in the Brew on sale for $12.99 this holiday season (in it, you’ll find Carolyn Connolly’s splendid poem “My Body the Lily of the Valley”). We welcome donations to support our work: Paypal @poetryinthebrew, Venmo @ChristineRaquel, or Cash App $PitBNash.

Email host Christine Hall with questions, requests, or suggestions:
